Certified Printing Explained

Below are some answers to a selection of the most common questions asked about FSC Certified Printing.

What is the FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1993 to support the world\\\'s forests, it is their job to ensure forests are managed in a responsible manner: to protect wildlife habitat, to respect the rights of local communities and to maintain sustainable forests.

What is the FSC Chain Of Custody?

The FSC Chain of Custody is the process by which the source of a timber product is verified. Certification involves inspection and auditing of the land from which the timber and pulpwood originate and tracking it through all steps of the production process to the end user: from paper manufacturer, to distributor, to the printing by an FSC Certified printing company. Only when this process has been independently verified is the product eligible to carry the FSC Logo.

Can I display the FSC Certified logo on my printed product?

The majority of our print products are FSC Certified and we are authorised to add the worldwide respected FSC Logo to these products on request.

What does the FSC Certified logo show/mean?

By displaying the FSC Logo you are showing others that your printed products have been independently certified as coming from forests that meet the internationally recognised FSC Principles and Criteria of Forest Stewardship, in short, you are pro-active in caring for the environment! Our web Hosting goes green!

Our web hosting supplier is proud to be the first large web host who relies solely on renewable energy. When we build your website we can add the green-hosting banner to show that your website is hosted and poweredby renewable energy.

Our web provider is proud to be the first large web host who relies solely on renewable energy. We believe in a sustainable society for all and that every business has a role in this responsibility. We have therefore made a strong commitment to fight pollution and preserve our natural resources. Our supplier now uses wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).

The use of renewable energy technologies reduces hazardous greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional power plants.

A Note from our supplier:

We Use Energy Efficiently

We do not only strive to use clean energy, we also endeavour to use energy as efficiently as possible. In our European data centres, we currently run some 40,000 servers which consume between 50 and 60 Gigawatts per hour (GWh). For years, 1&1 has been using energy highly economically, with less than 20 per cent heat loss – one of the best figures in the industry. As soon as the outside temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius, we cool our data centre using open-air coolers that work without energy-consuming compressors. The choice of software also plays a critical role in saving electrical power. Based on Linux, we have developed our own operating system uses server resources efficiently, saving valuable energy.

By hosting your site with us, you choose an environmentally sound and sustainable future and directly support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that come from conventional power plants.
